Profile:

Growing up in Canada much like the Netherlands means water everywhere. I grew up spending my summers going to our family cottage on a lake. As a child it was very important to learn how to swim so that I could safely participate in summer life in Canada. As a safety tradition, to be deemed old enough to take the boats out by ourselves, all kids had to be able to swim across the lake to an island and back. This meant I was very motivated at a very young age to be able to swim long distances. I took this passion and turned it into a summer job through my secondary studies and onto university where I was the Waterfront Director at a summer camp, and a lifeguard and swim instructor at the local pool.

I am a mom of two kids ages 3 and 5 as well as two dogs. I am a trained infectious disease professional who is taking a pause post COVID-19 chaos and returning to passions like swimming!

Coaching Style:

I believe in meeting people where they are at and working collaboratively towards their individual goals. I firmly believe there is no one-size fits all solution to learning to swim and I look forward to working with you to conquer your fears and master your aquatic skills!

Certifications:

  • Canadian Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor (2014)
  • Canadian Red Cross Swim Instructor (2014)
  • National Lifeguard (2014)

Specialties:

My favorite strokes to teach are breaststroke and freestyle (front crawl). I love to work with students to improve their endurance and overall comfort in the water.
