Waterphobia Private Lessons

Are you ready to start learning how to swim but are you extremely nervous around water?  We understand your fear and have helped tens of others to overcome their water phobia. The goal of private lessons is to get you comfortable in the water and guide you toward your first steps.

We specialize in helping adult beginners accomplish their immediate goals and ultimately become strong, independent, and responsible swimmers.

Overcome Your Fear of Water with Private Sessions

If you have a fear of the water our private lessons are a great way to get you settled. You can choose between the Carlton Beach Hotel in Scheveningen, The Hague, Amsterdam Friendship, Diemen, and Utrecht.

Your Personal Swim Coach will guide you through the process and make you feel at ease and in control in the water. Your coach will be in the pool with you at all times and teach you the essential techniques to help you feel more comfortable in the water.

The lessons will take place in pools that are chosen with care. All swimming pools feature warm water and a maximum depth of 1,40 meters.

How It Works

The private lessons are 1-on-1 or 1-on-2 and evolve around making you feel relaxed before entering the water and making you feel confident when you’re in the water. 

Options are available in Carlton Hotel – The Hague, in Amsterdam ( Friendship and Sportfondsen Oost), and in Diemen on request. Mostly our swimmers book a package of 4, which has proven to be enough to offer you a kick-start and let you continue the rest of the journey in one of our small groups.

1. Book Your Session

Follow the normal route for booking a try-out lesson and leave a note in which you request these 1-on-1 sessions first. One of our office members shall call you to book the sessions with you.

2. At Arrival, Let’s Get Comfortable

On-site, you will be welcomed by your own personal coach and will take time to chat first. After you express how you feel about it, your goal, and/or the previous experiences you will enter the water together.

3. First Steps in the Pool

During the swim sessions, you always have your personal swim coach on your side. Most of the time he or she is the one who is guiding the small groups as well, hence a perfect guide along the journey. Together you will enter the warm, shallow water with a maximum depth of 1,40 meters.

4. At Your Own Pace

At your own pace, we guide you on your next steps while making you feel 100% comfortable and secure in the water. At the end of the lesson, there is time to evaluate the lesson and in addition, all swimmers can follow their progress online too.

A Flexible Subscription with Fast Progress

The Private lessons can be booked as individual lessons, so after each lesson you can decide if you want to continue or perhaps move over to the small groups; 5 adults who are all beginners like you.

Do realize that you are not the only adult who can’t swim. It is very encouraging to join a small group.

Progress After 4 Lessons

The lessons will be perfectly customized to your needs, so you will experience growth and progression after a few lessons. Depending on your starters level and/or anxiety level you will be able to float and be able to move around independently after 4 lessons.

Yes, we are specialized in high-care lessons and especially in our private lessons you will be guided through each step in the process by a professional swim coach, highly experienced in helping people overcome their trauma.

i am scared. Can i bring my spous to watch?

Subject to the current corona protocols, it is possible to bring someone with you if that helps.

will i learn faster with private lessons?

our private lessons or private elite ( two swimmers at the same time) garantee lots of personal attention. The session is completely adjusted to your own learning points rather it is your first lessons or 10th. If you are keen to learn fast, book two lessons a week instead of one.  you are most welcome to combine a private lesson with a small group.

what should i wear ?

Come as you are as long as you feel comfortable. some newcomers need to shop first for a bading suit; keep it simple and wear what you like the most. At arrival you receive a swim cap ( not obligated to wear) bring goggles if you like to, although we shall practize a lot without goggles too. Wear flipflops or slippers since the pool floar can be slippery when wet.

Our Other Adult Swimming Classes

Water Introduction

If you cannot swim at all and are fearful and/or challenged in water generally.

You took classes before and failed or it has been a very long time ago.

Stroke Introduction

You are comfortable in shallow water but are not able yet to perform all 4 basic strokes.

This level requires you to have passed the introduction program, or you are able to perform a swim a backcrawl, and a single backstroke (froggy leg).

Intermediate

You can swim comfortably in shallow water, however, deep water gives you discomfort.

This level requires you to know all the 4 basic strokes and you have had swim lessons before.

Advanced

You have no issues in deep water and are able to swim more than one lane without breaking.

These groups work on improving their swimming skills and stamina and follow the program for Diplomas A, B, and C.
