Profile:

Hi, I am Marine, a 21-year-old Psychology Student at Leiden University. I grew up in Luxembourg, where I started synchronized swimming at the age of 10. With 17 I started my coaching career in Luxembourg, where I taught 10–15-year-olds synchronized swimmers. When I moved to the Netherlands, I soon noticed how much I missed being in the water and teaching. This realization and the help of a friend brought me to YPSC, where I have been working for a year now. It made me realize once again how enriching these experiences and encounters can be. For me swimming is a way to turn of my mind, don’t think and just take a break from the world for a moment. I hope to be able to pass this on to other people as well as help them feel comfortable in the water and achieve their swimming goals.

As I already mentioned I am psychology student here in Leiden. Other than that I enjoy spending time with my friends, doing all kind of sports, writing, reading &&&. I like seeing new places, meeting new people and am always down for a good adventure. Coaching Style:

If I would have to describe my coaching style in one word, I’d choose “Individuality”. I’ve learned that every person has different expectations, different fears and different struggles when it comes to learning how to swim. This means that it takes very individual approaches to achieve the swimmer’s goals. Getting to know the swimmer as well as their story with water is very important to me and helps me to put the puzzle pieces together. One last thing is keeping them motivated, making sure that they see and feel their progress themselves.

Certifications:
  • Various synchronized swimming awards
  • Protocol popduiken & vervoeren
  • Certificate ( B & C) : activity leading
Specialties: I particularly enjoy having breakthroughs with swimmers in the deeper water, getting more comfortable and taking away fears. When it comes to strokes, freestyle is one of my favorites.
