Profile:

I grew up in Germany and learned how to swim as a young child. I always loved being in the water and fortunately, I had swimming lessons every school year.

I especially remember a teacher who was a passionate competition swimmer and gave extra technique lessons to whoever liked to come. I was 11 years old and did not miss one of those lessons.

During the following years, I tried to keep my skills in shape and I always liked to help friends and family to improve their swimming techniques. I want to share my passion for swimming and this is why I recently started as a swimming teacher.

I also work at the municipality of The Hague and I live together with my partner and my teenage son. I love hiking in the Alps and one of the best things for me is diving into cool water after a long day of walking.

Coaching Style:

Swimming is fun as soon as you are loose and self-confident in the water. To reach that point you need to learn swimming techniques. It is not necessary to be strong or sporty to learn how to swim, it is necessary to be comfortable and in control. My role is to make sure a swimmer feels good in the water and then challenge the learners to do their next steps in swimming. I am patient with ‘my’ swimmers and I get really enthusiastic when I see improvements.

Swimming Certifications, Achievements, and Recognitions:

  • KNZB Rescue Swimming 2023
  • Zwemdiploma B in 2023 (As my old German swimming diplomas needed an update 😉 – Hope to do the C diploma soon)
  • Since August 2023 I have followed a course at Swim England to become a Certified Swimming Teacher.

Specialties:

Breaststroke is my favorite stroke but I like to teach all strokes. I try to analyze what my students do, what goes well and what can be improved. Mostly improvement is a matter of details. I try to focus on one thing at a time.
