Profile:
I have been swimming since I was little, starting with lessons and eventually becoming a lifeguard and swim instructor. My favourite swimming skill is breath-holding, I enjoy pushing my limits underwater. I love the feeling of gliding beneath the surface, challenging myself to go farther each time. Outside of swimming, I have a deep passion for poetry.
Coaching style:
I take a highly reflective approach to coaching, helping swimmers set goals and learn how to achieve them. For new swimmers, one of the biggest challenges is often overcoming the fear of water. I believe in guiding them through that fear—whether it’s their first float, their first jump, or learning a new stroke—by encouraging consistent reflection and goal-setting. My focus is on progress, no matter how small, and ending each lesson with something to be proud of and a way to improve.
Every person/swimmer is different and learns at their own pace; therefore, I find it important to be observant and to focus on each person individually. The key to swimming is mastering the basics, so I like to pay extra attention to the basic techniques and strokes first before moving on to endurance and speed.
The way I inspire my swimmers and keep them engaged is by being myself, by being patient and open-minded, to any fears and obstacles that might come along the way. I like to give my swimmers compliments and reassuring words to keep them confident, because encouragement and celebrating every little progress helps build the confidence and motivates the swimmers to” just keep swimming”.
