Profile:
At age 13 I was part of an open water relay race across the English Channel with 5 other girls (Six Girls
No Bouys), with this huge achievement we became the youngest ever relay team to cross the channel
and we raised £25,000 for our school’s science department. Enduring the training definitely taught
me that, nothing great is easy and persistence always pays off.
Then from 2017 until 2019 I taught swimming lessons for children aged 4 to 12 yrs, this was my first
job which made it special, but it was also magical to be a part of this learning process with the
children, allowing them see both the fun and the importance of swimming. Swimming is both a very
important life skill, but also a useful tool for learning about the body and mobility; it is just as much
exercise as it is a change in tempo.
During this time I also did a private swimming lesson with a man
with autism and physical handicap, these classes had always a strong focus on water mobility,
stretching and a heavy dosage of verbal encouragement! So what ever the swimming stage, I am
eager to find how I can support your swimming dreams!
I am also an art student at the Royal Academy of Art in the Hague, so I spend the majority of my time
painting in my studio, which like all skills, you only grow with repetition!
Coaching style:
It is important to want to learn, but that is just as much my responsibility as it is the swimmers, so I always aim to create a safe space for you to grow and practice. learning is always two steps forward and one step back, so its really important to celebrate the small mile stones in each stage of the process. I want the lessons to have an open dialogue where I am able to tailor to your needs or swimming goals. Even with small steps I believe that everyone can learn how to swim, its just about building the confidence and trusting the water.
Certifications and achievements:
Swim England Level 2 swimming instructor 2019
Swim England Level 1 swimming instructor 2018
Relay team across the English Channel 2013
Specialties:
I really enjoy finding ways to practice different techniques, breaking down the strokes into bite size pieces really helps us be aware of the movement in the water, which is important at every stage when swimming. With a good foundation to the stroke, speed and ease will naturally follow.
