Profile:
In the Netherlands, swimming is as natural as cycling. Birthday parties, company outings, school trips and weekends with friends often involve water, where there’s always a chance to swim and play.
Swimming has always been a part of my life – from being a member of a local swimming club as teenager, playing water polo shortly, and now as a part of a active lifestyle. Inspired by helping friends improving their swimming, I enrolled in a course and became a certified instructor.
With a personal approach, I look for what works best for each individual. I like to break down skills into simple steps and celebrate every small success.
I work in urban planning where I conceive and lead projects at the intersection of architecture, urban planning and politics.
Coaching style:
I make sure all my students feel comfortable in the water. I enjoy focusing on technique, as it can greatly improve a swimmer’s performance. We break things down and work step by step. Everyone learns differently, and through trial and error, we discover what works best for you.
Certifications and achievements:
Lifeguard CE1 NRZ (2024), pools - 2.30 meter. Educator swim-ABC CE4 NRZ (2024) Medic & Fire First Aid (2024) Zwemdiploma C (2023)
Specialties:
I enjoy working with students who aim to meet the requirements of Diploma A. Depending on their skills, this involves guiding someone from a non-swimmer level to full confidence and mastery of the Diploma A abilities, or helping to learning and refining remaining skills.
"Learning to swim means learning to trust yourself and the water."

Coaching style:
It is really important to me that students feel comfortable and safe in the water so that they can
build confidence that transfers from our lessons to real life.
I focus on building foundational skills,
such as floating on the back, putting the face in the water, and treading water so swimmers develop
true water confidence that extends beyond our lessons.
Once those basics are in place, I keep
sessions fun, positive, and engaging to help students associate swimming with enjoyment rather than
fear.
