Profile:
I grew up loving the water and began swimming on a swim team at the age of 3 and continued swimming competitively until 18. Over this time, I developed a deep passion for the sport as well as a strong desire to help teach others. I’ve taught children ages 3-18 how to swim and coached competitive swim groups for 4 years. Now I am excited to continue my coaching career with adults! Outside of coaching, I am pursuing a Master’s Degree at the University of Amsterdam and spend time training for triathlons.
Coaching style:
It is really important to me that students feel comfortable and safe in the water so that they can build confidence that transfers from our lessons to real life. I focus on building foundational skills, such as floating on the back, putting the face in the water, and treading water so swimmers develop true water confidence that extends beyond our lessons. Once those basics are in place, I keep sessions fun, positive, and engaging to help students associate swimming with enjoyment rather than fear.
Training Experience:
4 years
Specialties:
I specialize in teaching students to float and swim on their backs. I believe being able to float on your back is the key to having confidence in the water and it is my favorite skill to teach. In my competitive swimming years, the 100 meter backstroke was also my favorite event!
