Meet Our Swim Coach
Meet Swim Coach Alina
Nationality: Romanian
Living in The Netherlands since: 2023
Languages: Romanian, English, German, Dutch
Pool location: (Veldhoven & Tilburg)
Profile:
I grew up surrounded by sports, starting with athletics and swimming from an early age. Over time I explored different activities, but swimming fascinated me the most and I pursued it professionally, competing in national competitions. Along the way, I discovered a passion for coaching children and helping them grow in the water. For me, swimming is more than a sport, it strengthens the body, improves breathing, and is an essential life skill that can even save lives. Outside the pool, I am a student of Medical Imaging and Radiotherapy.
Coaching style:
My approach is highly adaptive and student focused. I work to get on the same page with each swimmer, using different strategies and techniques until I find what suits them best. I like to explain with clarity, often using funny analogies, and I keep motivation high through encouragement and positive feedback. I believe celebrating small improvements with genuine praise helps students feel confident and excited to continue learning.
Training Experience:
Former professional swimmer and youth coaching experience.
Specialties:
I have been successful in working with children and beginners, as well as swimmers looking to build confidence and improve their technique. My strengths are in adapting my methods to different learning styles and helping students develop stroke efficiency, endurance, and overall comfort in the water.
“Swimming is not just about moving through water, it’s about building confidence, strength, and a skill for life.”
