Training Experience: 5 years teaching kids
Pool location: Den Haag
Profile:
I basically grew up in the water. My dad was a swimming coach at our local swimming club, so swimming naturally became our family sport and I basically grew up at the pool. From there, my sister and I went on to do competitive swimming and also started volunteering as coaches for our club. I believe the best way to learn swimming is by feeling comfortable in the water and enjoying the process, and beyond swimming, I’m a student in the Liberal Arts and Sciences bachelor’s at Leiden University.
Coaching style:
My preferred approach to teaching is to break the movement down into different components and work on different aspects separately to improve the overall movement. Typically, my approach to the learning process is a mix of structure and adaptability, I like to give learners clear, simple steps to focus on, while also adjusting the difficulty based on their improvements.
Certifications and achievements:
Competing on state level, Won multiple club championships, German coaching certificates
Specialties:
I’ve been very successful working with advanced swimmers, especially when it comes to refining front crawl and back crawl technique. At the same time, having worked a lot with beginner children, I’m also very good at reassuring nervous swimmers and helping them feel comfortable in the water.
